Who does FRANKENPONY sound like? Hmmmm. Gosh, we'd like to think we're pretty unique and eclectic, and we'd rather have you decide that. But we hate to dodge the question, so here goes... as far as musical similarities to big name bands, we'd probably be in the "Weezer meets Green Day meets 311 meets Foo Fighters meets No Doubt" category. Some of the material might make you think Stone Temple Pilots, or maybe Cheap Trick, too. On our more alternative pop songs, you might think of Elvis Costello or They Might Be Giants. But we just is who we is. How do you describe FRANKENPONY's music? Power Pop seems to come closest. It can be pretty heavy at times, and it's definitely punk/ska influenced. Melodies are paramount, and odd time signatures are not out of the question. And we strive for unique and imaginative lyrics. So how do we describe FRANKENPONY's music? Awesome. ;) Where has FRANKENPONY played? OK, that one isn't so subjective. We can answer that. Chicago...Elbo Room, Cubby Bear, The Lyons Den, Underground Lounge, The Beat Kitchen, Thurston's, Hog Head McDunna's to name a few. Burbs...Penny Road Pub, Rockhouse Café, Game Works, and Flatlanders were some burb-o-litious gigs. Bloomington...Lizard's Lounge, Illinois Brewing Company |
